Perhaps you would like to know that your salad was grown in a healthy environment, without the worry of possible contamination. The strain of budgeting as food and other prices rise can take its toll. How can you find ways to recharge, to restore your energy? Sometimes the answers can be found in your own back yard, front yard, deck, or patio!

The Oxford Land Trust is pleased to announce a presentation on edible gardens by Raye Hodgson of Hodgson Biologic. This program is open to the public and free of charge. It will be held at Oxford Town Hall on 4-9-2009 at 7:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

Grow Your Food! Reclaiming an American Tradition will include information on starting a garden, the basics of growing edible plants, alternatives to vegetable row-cropping, and solutions for those with land considered less than ideal for growing food.

Emphasis will be placed on sustainable practices and tailoring your garden design to suit your specific goals and site conditions.

Raye's background includes seven years as an agricultural conservationist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, three years teaching high school science, a B.S. in Renewable Natural Resources from the University of Connecticut, technical certification in composting from the Maine Compost School, and over twenty years of gardening experience.
