Category: Garden Tasks Around here, the tulips and early spring bulbs have pushed up their leaves. Ahh, spring! A tour of the grounds is in order. Take your time. Look closely. Get close to the soil. Which plants are coming back? Did something get piled on top of the flower bed and forgotten last fall? You may need to rescue some plants from under matted leaves or fallen limbs. Were you able to get some plant food to them last fall? Do you need to provide something now? I know I need to catch up on some cleanup. We have had a few small trees taken down to get some more sunshine on the south side of the house, where we will be adding some beds and shrubs. Most of that has been cleaned up nicely, but there is a bit more to do. Are there some volunteer plants that will need to be moved later? I suggest you mark them somehow so that they won't get overlooked when you are busy with other chores. February, 2009 Show Full Year
